Hipcamp for the Win

Night 8 on the road

We needed to find a place to stay overnight to break up the final miles through neverending Texas before landing in civilization for a while. Rather than settle for one of the many bland RV parks at the half way point, we found ourselves a hipcamp - a parcel of private land rented out as a campsite through the hipcamp website. We lucked out with this gem of a property on Lavon Lake. We didn't have too much time to enjoy it, but we did enjoy a spectacular sunset on a lakefront property we had all to ourselves. The silence was great.

I just love the Hipcamp model. In case you haven't heard of it, it's a website on which land owners are able to rent out makeshift campsites on their properties. You can find wineries, farms, riverside and lake front properties, etc. on which to set up camp.
