Ringing in the New Year in Westport, WA

I spent the last moments of 2020 and the first of 2021 with Sadie, Angus, and our dogs in the charming new discovery of Westport, Washington. Covid was still a huge concern, so we got ourselves two rooms at Loge, our favorite chic virus-safe motor lodge chain with keyless check-in, and an indoor-outdoor camping ethos. The huge covered kitchen featured a couple of Traeger grills, and more grilling/cooking necessities than you could possibly need. One day, we even made hot sandwiches on a panini grill for lunch, in the outdoor kitchen. While staying at any kind of resort or hotel would have felt wrong during another Covid uptick, staying at the Loges has felt safe during these times due to their focus on outdoor living and limited need for any human contact.

Westport is such an interesting town to visit and we hope to return in summer months. It is located on the Washington Coast, on a little peninsula adjacent to the entrance Grays Harbor from the Pacific Ocean. This means that you can drive from the ferocious waves on the Pacific side to a serene, quaint fishing town/harbor in a couple of minutes. The area is known for its great surfing opportunities, so this Loge location features gear rentals specific to surfing and other water sports.
